My Junior year of university, our Fall semester assignment was to work in pairs and create installations for the Scottsdale Canal Convergence event. My partner and I created "Cocoamotion," a piece inspired by the litter along the Scottsdale canal; and it included art from our collaboration with students at Tonalea K-8! It was also my first time using Arduino and lighting in a project.

While I am not the most proud of the end product due to other reasons, I am proud of the skills I learned throughout the project. I'm also pleased that after taking a step away from design classes to avoid burn out, I had the opportunity for a second chance with installations.

The second installation was for ASU STEAMtank (link), a children's museum with exhibits based on STEM + the arts! Working in transdisciplinary teams, my group created "LumaGrid," an interactive light exhibit that sparks children's curiosity by playing with lights and sound. It is made out of two main elements: a rubber mat grid placed on the floor and 100 light bulbs on top of it hanging from the ceiling. The most obvious interaction is that the light follows every movement accompanied by a continuous music loop. The intensity of the light decreases from the outer rings towards the center. This exhibit allows kids that have an immersive and holistic experience as to what STEAM is all about!
